A British Sunday Roast Dinner… Ibiza Style

Posted by November 13, 2018TravelIbiza

If you thought Ibiza is only a place to visit during the summer… you’re very much mistaken!

Times are changing in Ibiza with a ‘second season’ becoming ever more popular during the ‘winter months’ of October through to May. Tourists are beginning to discover Ibiza’s best kept secret; warm and sunny, blue sky days year round and the hippy-laid-back-culture still prevailing under the surface of the nouveau VIP party scene.

Ibiza offers a very different kind of vacation during the winter months; a conscious lifestyle of slow living, natural beauty and a celebration of the abundance of delicious local produce the island provides; feeding the appetites of those that appreciate healthy organic meals cooked by international chefs in more humble settings than those that take centre stage during the summer.

With so many expats living on the White Isle year-round, including a large British community there are many places on the island catering to their tastes, including the typical British Sunday roast dinner, but Ibiza style of course! Here’s a few of our favourites to try this winter…

Casa Maca

This rural boutique hotel and restaurant is isolated in Ibiza’s countryside, overlooking Dalt Vila and is composed of an antique peasant farmer’s house, located just outside of Ibiza town. The beautiful building has been entirely restored taking care of the original architecture, and is set in the most idyllic landscape, offering unbeatable views towards iconic Dalt Vila.

The hotel and restaurant combine simplicity and luxury perfectly, allowing you to feel completely at home.

Every Sunday between 12 noon and 4pm Casa Maca offer a delicious traditional Roast Dinner, accompanied by Bloody Marys, prawn cocktail starters, all the trimmings and of course fluffy Yorkshire puddings as you’d expect at home. EC recommends the sticky toffee pudding – it’s a little slice of heaven!

Babylon Beach

Located along the coastline East of the island, just 5 minutes from Santa Eulalia the second biggest town in Ibiza, is Babylon Beach. This gorgeous restaurant and cocktail bar offers quality food, in natural surroundings, with amazing sea views, friendly staff and that ultra-chilled vibe that can only be found in Ibiza.

Babylon Beach is tucked away in quiet cove, directly on the seafront, providing the perfect escape for whiling away your Sunday with wonderful views and sumptuous sound-tracks. We guarantee you’ll not find a seasonal Sunday Roast dinner in a setting anywhere else quite like it.

Every week between 1pm – 4.30pm celebrate the best of Ibiza’s produce with a choice of beef, chicken or vegetarian nut roast, and yes, Yorkshire puddings are served with every option!

Pikes Restaurant

Pikes Restaurant has quickly become known as a great place to go on the island for a sublime dining experience offering a distinctly British stance on cuisine that mixes classic dishes with modern cooking methods. The kitchen works with local farmers including Juan’s farm, which you’ll drive past on the way up the lane to Pikes. In the words of the head chef “his spuds are banging”. Even the free-range chicken is locally farmed.

Head chef Lee Milne has worked at British award-winning restaurants including ‘Restaurant Gordon Ramsay’ and ‘The Vineyard at Stockcross’. He explains “Pikes is a relaxed place, it’s fun and social, and we feel that this should continue into the food experience too. I love our family style eating, it feels… well, family!”

With the British stance, and family style eating it’s obvious that a Sunday Roast would be on the menu. EC promises you will absolutely not be disappointed! Dine outside in the sunshine and enjoy beautifully roasted lamb, beef or chicken, alongside some “banging spuds” and locally sourced veggies, served every Sunday between 1:00pm – 8:00pm.

And if you’re a fan of a good glass of vino to wash your roast down with, Pikes offer an extensive choice of local wines for you to experience the best of Spanish with your very British dinner.

Available: Apr-Oct
