Creative Director and Owner of Ibiza founded Velvet Circus, introduces EC Villas to her Ibiza ‘family’.
There wasn’t a plan as such but James had been coming to the island since the age of three. I was dubious to start with as I had never been however, we both just wanted to get out of the UK and just thought ‘let’s go and see what happens’. James knew I would fall in love as soon as I got here which of course, I did.
We got married here in 2011, it was the most amazing day. We had a two-day celebration with the wedding at my Sister and Brother-in-Law’s villa and a boat party the day after. We chartered a catamaran for 70 guests and went over to Es Vedra and Formentera. Small and intimate but it was perfect.
We love going down to Cala Llenya and Cala Nova beaches, they’re really close and ideal to take the dog. Cala Llenya is great in the winter, the little kiosk stays open and they serve the most amazing fish there. Our really good friends live close by so we often go with them. We also have this little spot which has been a favourite of ours since we moved to Ibiza, a hidden pathway at Cala D’Hort which we’d take every week up to the clifftop and sit and have a picnic.
James and I do lots of entertaining at home, we’re big into hanging out with our friends and having lots of people over for lunch but the outdoors life is what Ibiza is about and it’s great for bringing up children. We love taking picnics and having brunch on one of the local beaches with friends and all their kids. There are so many beautiful parts of Ibiza that don’t have that ‘flashy’ vibe – lots of little shacks and local stores. We love having breakfast at Los Enamorados or heading down to beautiful Cala Bonita. It doesn’t get too crowded, you can get served on the beach and the food is delicious. Yemanja in Cala Jondal is also a great spot.
There are some lovely winter spots for amazing walks such as Cala Llentrisca in Es Cubells, Atlantis or Santa Agnes through the Almond Blossom valley or through the big boulders down by the sea.
Our best friends in the whole world live here. We even have godchildren here now – that’s a massive pull for me. Our small family of Gemma and Jack grew along the way and now my sister lives here too having moved five years ago. We feel like we have a huge family in Ibiza and that’s what makes it the place that I never want to leave.
